“Petits Bijoux” by Catellani & Smith represents a “static movement,” the effect of an action that seems to mimic the gesture of throwing a stone into a body of water, creating concentric waves that ripple through space. The concept of the sphere, the circle as a metaphor for infinity and perfection, is a cherished and recurring theme in Catellani & Smith’s three-decade production, reappearing here in this new collection of pendant lights, as simple in form as they are extraordinary in execution. The sparkling lenses illuminate the natural brass rings like celestial bodies following their orbit. The collection consists of two different models, Petits Bijoux S and L, each characterized by a series of circles, sometimes smaller, sometimes larger, supported by thin cables that together form a sphere (120 cm for the S model and 75 cm for the L model).
