While most design enthusiasts know Muller Van Severen for their furniture, the story of the designer couple actually began with the creation of these “Hanging Lamps.” “It all started from a need,” explains Hannes. “We were renovating our home, which is an old building. There was no outlet to plug in a lamp above the dining table, so we designed a lamp that could be mounted on the wall,” Hannes adds. “It’s a fantastic lampshade: perfectly neutral. Fortunately, we found a company capable of producing it.” The first prototypes were presented at Muller Van Severen’s very first solo exhibition in 2011. During this exhibition, Fien and Hannes filled the space of the Valerie Traan gallery with creations that gave the impression that someone had taken colored pencils and started drawing in the air. This is actually exactly how these lamps should be interpreted: seemingly naive drawings materializing in real life. These Hanging Lamps are now available in 5 different models (5 shapes). Thanks to their versatile design, these lamps are suitable for many spaces, from the living room and dining room to the bedroom and office. They add a touch of sophistication and style, no matter where they are placed. Once mounted on the wall, the height of the lamp is not adjustable, but it can be moved laterally.
