Dalilips

Salvatore Dali et Oscar Tusquets
1972
The Dalilips armchair is an iconic piece designed by Salvador Dalí and Oscar Tusquets in 1972. It stands out for its surreal aesthetic, inspired by the shape of lips, giving it a playful and provocative appearance. Its design is often associated with the Surrealist movement, where art and furniture meet in an innovative way. This chair has been produced in multiple editions and is admired not only for its visual appeal but also for its comfort. It has become a symbol of applied art and pop culture, frequently used in contemporary and artistic environments. Inspired by Dalí’s painting Mae West’s Room (1936) and the Mae West Lips Sofa (1937), the Dalilips (originally named “Salivasofá”) was initially limited to a run of only 300 pieces. It was reissued in 2004 to mark the centennial of Dalí’s birth in a polyethylene version—a high-quality material suited to both indoor and outdoor settings.
